The Lords of Landstejn`s coats-of-arms 
 
Vilem z Landstejna`s coat-of-arms. 

The ruling house of the Viteks of Landstejn was one of the most significant owners. Landstejn achieved its greatest fame during the rule of Vilem z Landstejna (Germ. Wilhelm von Landstein, 1315-1356) who was a mighty tycoon and a contemporary of the Czech King and Roman Emperor Karel IV (1316-1378).

After the ruling house of the Viteks of Landstejn died out, the Czech King Vaclav IV. (Germ. Wenzel IV.) became the possessor. He abandoned the right of use to the Austrian ruling house of Krajir von Krajk. However, this house acquired the castle for ever in the end, under the condition of an unlimited entry for the king, including his retinue.

The house of Krajir z Krajku (germ. Kreiger von Kreig) soon became very well established in the Czech milieu, despite their Austrian origin. They began to re-build the whole castle and slowly changed the original stone fortress at the Czech-Austrian frontier into a noble and worthy Romanesque nobleman`s residence. This was the time of the greatest boom for the Lanstejn castle...
